More Nigerian Professionals Work Abroad Than Here...

Mr Michel Arrion, the Head of European Union Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, says there are more Nigerian nurses in Europe than there are in Nigeria.

Arrion told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday that the health professionals would better serve to provide and deliver social services to Nigeria.

He said that a situation whereby some Nigerians travel to European countries and remained to work was not in the interest of the country.

Its not just the nurses. We have engineers, doctors, researchers, reputable lecturers etc, also working abroad.

But why should they be blamed? The system abroad is more stable, plus the pay and cost of living is by far better.

If those intellectual minds come back here to this country they will forever be frustrated. Insufficient salaries are paid to professionals, bad working environments, lack of infrastructures, cost of living here sucks generally.

Its so painful to see professionals being paid peanuts. While politicians, most not well educated, earn 10 times more than them. Money is stolen everyday yet they say we don't have sufficient funds to completely develop and transform our country.

We are blessed with intelligent minds but if those minds are here, they will be destroyed. Our country needs to change for better.

If only our leaders could stop thinking about their pockets, instead, love and put Nigeria first.
