Like I said before We Are Born Into Corruption.
Just like in the Bible, “We Are Into Sin”, but this is
different.
Well in the Bible Jesus died for our salvation, making
things much easier for us. Although it’s possible for us to still derail off
the path. The same applies to us in Nigeria.
Being born into corruption here is not a choice, but leaving
corrupt free is a decision. The thing is, it is very difficult to live a
corrupt free life, because unlike the bible were we have a savior ‘JESUS’ who cleared the path for us,
here in Nigeria, We have no savior.
I say this because it is the truth. We try as much as to
live a corrupt free life but the chance of derailing is very great.
This is why;
A child is born innocent and with a bright future ahead, but
ends up becoming a criminal (corrupt).
How it begins; After birth, his average class parents do
everything within their power to give this child the best in life; food, shelter,
clothing and the best education they can afford.
This said child tries as much as possible to live a corrupt
and crime free life. He strives to be the best he can; religious, educated and
a good citizen. He graduates from the university and discovers that life is not
a bed of roses, especially life in a corrupt country like ours.
After graduating
he has to stay home for month’s idle, awaiting NYSC call up. These months of
idleness opens his eyes to the facts that have always been in front of him. For the first time the true corrupt part of him is awaken, because an idle man is the devils workshop. Some derail at this point while others remain faithful in their corrupt free path.
As for those who remain steadfast, they get their NYSC call
up letters with joy of a bright future soon to be attained.
After one long year of serving our Nation, this child turn
adult, is now ready to enter the labor market. He submits his CV’s to literally
every company in the country, but is not called up for any interview. Even those who eventually contact him were calling just for formality sake because they already have people they want to employ.
This circle of job seeking can continue for years,
and by years, I mean over 10years. He discovers that others who had adapted to
our Nations corrupt ways are all gainfully employed. At this point it dawns on
him that his corrupt free way is actually the hindrance to his long awaited future.
He then decides to jump from his stagnant train and join the
moving train. Since he has lost much time, cos time waits for no man, He does
everything do-able within his power to catch-on lost time. Obviously not genuine
things; fraud, kidnapping, murder, rituals, militancy, terrorism, prostitution, drugs etc.
He knows that he will either be caught, killed or successful. But he doesn't care, you know why? There is 1 in 3 chance he will succeed. Why won't he give it a try? He choose corruption over starvation and humiliation.
No one wants to starve to death or be humiliated/ridiculed!!!
Idleness, Frustration and Survival Instincts must always kick-in, making one do the unimaginable.
This is how an innocent child, who hoped for a bright corrupt-free future becomes a harden corrupt-minded criminal.
As long as the youths are not gainfully employed, our crime
rates will keep rising.
The Real Nigeria…
