Education Here Sucks; As $2bn Is Spent On School Fees Abroad Annually

The Chairman  Senate Committee on Tertiary Institution and Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, Senator Binta Masi, yesterday said  Nigeria currently spends over  $2 billion annually as capital flight on education abroad.

We are blessed with intelligent minds as thousands of Nigerians lecture abroad, but yet we are still backwards because our government can not explore those brilliant minds to improve our educational system here.

How will our educational system ever improve? When there is so much corruption in our system.

Imagine a country where politicians earn way more than a lecturers. Our lecturers are suffering because they are not well paid. Most resort to collecting money from students in exchange for good grades just so they can survive.

Most are owed salaries. But our politicians are never owed.

The key stage of learning in a persons life is the primary/elementary level, but yet there are in the worst state you can imagine.

Lack of funds creates deficiencies in our educational system, such as; bad infrastructures and inadequate teachers. Yet our politicians and those in power find ways to siphon money, forgetting about us at the grassroots level.

It will interest you to know that every member of the upper houses in our legislative arm of government are given funds to handle projects that will develop their constituencies, but yet they divert those funds to their pockets.

They only remember us at the grassroots when they need to run for second terms.

Our educational system sucks and it will keep getting worst if it is not given proper attention.

The Real Nigeria...
